PARENTHESES AS A MEANS OF CREATING IRONY

This article examines the role of interjectional constructions, in particular, parentheses, in creating irony (pitch) in artistic and journalistic speech. It is illustrated through examples that parentheses are not only a means of providing additional information, but also a powerful stylistic figure expressing the author's hidden attitude to reality, irony and sarcasm.
