THE HISTORICAL ROLE OF THE KANTEMIR FAMILY IN RUSSIA
Abstract
The article is dedicated to the history of three generations of the Kantemir family, who played an important role in the political, scientific and literary spheres. The founder of the dynasty, Constantin Cantemir, came from the eastern aristocracy and was proud of his origins. He took the throne of the ruler of Moldavia, laying the foundations of dynastic influence. His son, Dimitri Kantemir, received an outstanding education in Istanbul, where he distinguished himself as a scholar and writer. He became the first orientalist of the Russian Empire, created the Turkish anthem, and made a significant contribution to the development of history, geography, and music. A representative of the third generation, Antioch Kantemir, became famous as one of the founders of Russian satire. During the reign of Anna Ioannovna, he held the post of a government official, combining diplomatic activity with literary work, which made his name iconic for Russian culture.
